I’m going to be a debate junkie tonight. So, woefully, no food-related posting. I will, however, be imbibing in the above, along with some pizza. Yes, it happens…
We actually found a six-pack of Magic Hat #9 last weekend, while simply out and about. It’s a South Burlington, Vermont brew that we used to enjoy while living in NH. I never expected to find it out here, so of course, it was an immediate purchase. And yumm, I am enjoying it. Onward…

Oooh! I loved Magic Hat back when I lived in Jersey…the best Northeast brewer in my opinion is without a doubt Dogfish Head (Milton, Delaware), though. Brooklyn ‘55 Pennant Ale was always another of my favorites, and a little brewpub in Woodbridge (JJ Bitting’s) made a really great Strawberry Wheat Ale amongst others. There really weren’t that many local craft brewers out that way, though…
Of course now that I’m here in Portland, I doubt I will ever even come close to trying all the local brews here…although I can definitely try! Just got home from work and having a Mirror Pond Pale Ale (Deschutes Brewery – Bend, Oregon…) before I head to bed.
And amazingly enough, I even found a place (Pastaworks on SE Hawthorne) here in Portland that carries Dogfish Head, so if I’m ever really desperate for a taste of back East, I can always pick one up here…
I’m sure you have lots of local brews to taste-test in the NW.
I kind of go with what I know now… though I did find more Magic Hat #9 while in CT. Just had to pick it up again. :0
