I had been wanting to make a pizza at home… So, I did a quick one Friday night and it came out tasty and easy. I do want to experiment with making my own pizza dough, but for now, I opted for Pilsbury’s. For the toppings, I used the traditional (traditional for here, that is) mushrooms and garlic. Instead of a tomato-based pizza sauce, I used the remainder of a jar of Red Pepper Cheese Sauce. Then added some Shredded Cheddar Cheese and voila! I probably could have pulled it out of the oven a couple of minutes sooner, but still, the cheese was only slightly browned, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
In the past, we’ve used Boboli pizza crusts with a variety of toppings, such as sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, chicken… But for Friday, I wanted something quick and easy. I’d like to soon find a good pizza dough recipe and have batches ready to use from the freezer. I can picture myself trying calzones-of-sorts and other stuffed dough dishes too. So, I’ll call this a start… 😉
